The 2015 CV (Curriculum Vitae) (Quinta Vale D. Maria) is a field blend from very old vines (85+ years), aged for 22 months in 85% new French barriques. It comes in at 15% alcohol. When tasted, this was a bit further away from bottling than some of the samples here, but it was so brilliant I can't really resist giving a preview. This looks to be on track to become one of the greatest CVs, combining good concentration (although it is not the most concentrated ever), intensely flavorful fruit, glorious freshness for this big wine and velvety, seductive texture. It is gorgeous and just terrific—so it seems right now. The worst it should become is excellent, but note that this is scheduled for bottling around the time this article appears. There are just 8,100 bottles and a few large format bottles to be produced. It will be available at the end of this year or early 2018.
