The young-vine red 2018 Partida Pedrè Negre is pure Garnacha from a shadowed and north-facing vineyard on llicorella slate terraces. It fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts in an open-top that was closed for seven days, and when it was full of carbonic gas, the clusters were foot trodden day for four or five days, after which it was pressed and finished fermenting without skins. It matured in a 60-liter concrete egg. There is no 2016 or 2017, and there is a change in 2018: the grapes for the red and rosé were picked at the same time, still crunchy, and the wine has a different profile from previous vintages. The wine is fresher and clean, as they used the lower alcohol grapes rather than the ripest ones they used in the past. The palate is medium to full-bodied and the tannins fine-grained. This feels like a completely different wine from the past vintages. 840 bottles were filled in July 2019.
